Lake Wide Stocking Information

New York is only part of the picture when it comes to the steelhead population in Lake Erie.  All the states bordering Erie along with Canada contribute stocked salmonids to the lake.  Below are two figures taken from the Report of the Coldwater Task Group to the Standing Technical Committee of the Lake Erie Committee.  It summarizes the salmonids stocked into Lake Erie from 1989 - 2001. In order to simplify data entry, yearling equivalents are used.  What this means is that, any fish younger or older than a yearling are converted to yearling numbers (i.e. if two fingerling steelhead weigh as much as one yearling, every two are reported on the table as one yearling).
